PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE ON FIREFIGHTERS PENSION SCHEME - FOLLOW UP
FBU members will all be aware of the debate that took place in the House of Commons on 17 December 2014. Many members attended the debate and many, many more watched the debate on television. We are also aware that firefighters elsewhere in Europe and beyond became aware of the debate and followed it.
Firefighters from every brigade in the South West joined colleagues from across the UK in Parliament - lobbying MPs and demanding pension justice. After an unprecedented debate and vote in the Commons, with many Firefighters watching from the public gallery, the ConDem Government voted through unsustainable and unfair cuts to Firefighter pensions by 313 votes to 261.
Please find below the voting results from the MPs within our Region. All MPs had been lobbied in person or had been written to.
The Fleur Lombard Bursary was set up in memory of a couragous Bristol firefighter who lost her life protecting her community. The bursary gives Firefighters a once in a lifetime opportunity to broaden your horizons & understanding of Fire Service issues
