APRIL 2014: FURTHER INDUSTRIAL ACTION
DEVELOPMENTS SINCE LAST MEETING OF FBU EXECUTIVE COUNCIL (9 AND 10 APRIL 2014)
Following the Executive Council meeting on 9 and 10 April we wrote to DCLG Fire Minister, Brandon Lewis, explaining that although we had taken part in numerous discussions we had still not been provided with any improved proposals for the 2015 scheme or addressing any of our other concerns on pensions.
Members have been informed of the result of the ballot for industrial action short of a strike. That ballot was in addition to the previous ballot for strike action which did not include control members.
PENSIONS: URGENT MATTERS OF CONCERN ARISING FROM THE BUDGET
FBU officials from across the union attended a meeting in London last week. They heard reports on a range of issues, including the most current developments relating to pensions.
DORSET AND WILTSHIRE FIRE AUTHORITES EXPLORE MERGER OPTIONS
All members will be aware of the proposals agreed by Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Authorities to, as they put it, “work towards developing a business case for a potential merger in April 2016”. Since this announcement was made in December 2013, FBU Officials from both Services have been liaising closely, sharing relevant information and seeking the views and concerns of our members across the two affected areas.
