Dear Brother / Sister
INDUSTRIAL ACTION : PENSIONS IN THE FIRE SERVICE

Members have been informed of the result of the ballot for industrial action consisting of a strike.
As the person authorised to make the call for industrial action, I now confirm that this discontinuous strike action will commence and terminate at the times and on the dates specified below:
BALLOT FOR INDUSTRIAL ACTION: PENSIONS IN THE FIRE SERVICE
Ballot Result
Please note that the result of the ballot as to whether members of the FBU are prepared to take part in industrial action short of a strike in relation to the above dispute is as follows:
Our last period of strike action took place on 13 November. Once again we saw enormous solidarity from FBU members and, on behalf of the Executive Council I would like to pay tribute to all concerned. We have again heard widespread reports of high levels of public support and sympathy for our action.
YouGov Survey 2013 – Members views on the current pension proposals
The FBU has previously used information from YouGov surveys to provide supporting evidence about the attitudes of firefighters towards the government’s pension proposals. This type of information has already been key in our responses both on the affordability and workability of the current proposals.
FOURTH PERIOD OF STRIKE ACTION AND A RESPONSE TO BRANDON LEWIS
As FBU members in England and Wales prepare to take further strike action they will be aware of the most recent open letter from the English Fire Minister, Brandon Lewis outlining his disappointment that we took strike action on the 1 and 4 November.
Our pension campaign has reached a critical stage. We remain keen to resolve our dispute through negotiation and continue to explore all avenues in an attempt to get a resolution. We shall continue to do so and to seek every opportunity to resolve the matters under dispute.
