Yesterday, the Executive Council received a report of the status of discussions with ministers. Having considered the report, the Executive Council agreed that the discussions should continue, and that the matters would be considered again when the Executive Council reconvenes on 29 January 2014. This short circular is provided to members in order to provide an update.
The General Secretary, Matt Wrack, is to attend two mass meetings in the region in January. The meetings are open to any and all FBU members regardless of your branch.

First of all I would like to congratulate all members for their hard work and dedication over the past weeks in protecting communities from the floods that have devastated vast swathes of the UK.
On behalf of the Executive Council I would like to wish all FBU members and their families a Happy New Year. Unfortunately it already appears that it will be another tough year for firefighters and for the Fire and Rescue Service.
