You may be aware that the RFU issued a note on 5 August which criticised the FBU and accused us of presenting misleading information with a view to obtaining support for potential strike action.
RDS MODIFIED SCHEME – DEFINITELY A SCHEME WORTH FIGHTING FOR
On 1 August 2013 Head Office issued a circular (HOC0424MW) which highlighted that, after a long delay and extreme pressure from the FBU, the consultation paper for the RDS ‘Modified’ scheme had been issued.
INFORMATION REQUESTS/DEMANDS FROM FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICES IN RESPECT OF MEMBERS’ INTENTIONS IN THE EVENT OF STRIKE ACTION
We have been informed of a number of initiatives by Fire and Rescue Services, whereby the FRS is seeking information from members regarding their intentions in the event of strike action, following the FBU ballot which ends on 29 August 2013.
You will be aware that various exchanges of correspondence have taken place since the start of our ballot for industrial action. Brandon Lewis, the CLG Fire Minister has written a second open letter to Firefighters and has also written directly to the Union in response to our most recent letters to him.
RETAINED FIREFIGHTERS’ PENSION SETTLEMENT:
• A VICTORY FOR THE FIRE BRIGADES UNION AND FOR RETAINED MEMBERS
• THE ‘MODIFIED’ SCHEME IS ANOTHER SCHEME WE MUST NOW DEFEND
Further to Head Office circular 2013HOC0369SS, I write to inform you that at the recent Executive Council meeting a decision was taken to cancel National School 2013 due to the possibility of industrial action.
We have received a few calls into Head Office from members saying that they have not received a ballot paper, and it seems that the common cause is that Head Office has not been notified by a small number of members that they have changed address. We are anxious that every member should receive a ballot paper in order to participate in the decision-making process.
